Overview
Overview of Position:
The Director of Finance and Administration reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the oversight of Rebuilding Together NYC’s fiscal systems, operations, technology, and human resources and assists with strategic planning.
Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Finance and Administration is primarily responsible for overseeing financial management and reporting and general organizational operations and will supervise two staff, the Operations Manager and Accountant. The position is responsible for the following:
- Partner with Executive Director in strategic planning for organizational goals and operational efficiency
- Lead Human Resources
- Oversight of all HR policies
- Lead the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) initiative once launched
- Review and update policies and procedures as required by city, state, & federal laws/codes
- Supervise Operations Manager in onboarding and exit processes including orientation and trainings
- Ensure performance reviews are completed annually, including trainings and professional development
- Support supervisors in coaching, performance improvement, and disciplinary action
- Manage organizational finances
- Supervise Accountant and the creation of cash flow projections, and organizational and program budgets at least quarterly throughout the year
- Ensure bookkeeping and account receivables/account payables are updated weekly
- Oversee month-end reconciliations
- Work with external accountants and consultants as needed
- Review and distribute financial reports, balance sheets and other budget or finance-related documents to management, the Board, and the Treasurer
- Work with auditors to ensure timely audit and 990 completions
- Communicate with Treasurer on a regular basis and/or Executive Committee as directed
- Manage grant administration for programs
- Review and support the creation of grant applications and related budgets and financial information
- Support and oversee contract management and execution
- Review and submit invoices for reimbursements and disbursements
- Oversee M/WBE & SDVOB report creation and submission
- Oversee organizational technology
- Oversee vendor relationships for database software, phone system, information technology and other platforms and equipment
- Review and update policies and procedures as required by law, Rebuilding Together (RT) national insurance, policy, and other requirements
- Oversee facilities, vehicles, and office equipment/supplies
- Supervise Operations Manager in office/facility management
- Ensure vehicles’ registration, insurance, and other requirements
- Manage leases and other vendor relationships
- Oversee all insurance policies, including audits and updates
- Monitor and manage insurance compliance and updates for funders and per RT National requirements
- Support Executive Director with Board meetings, activities and related events
Qualifications:
- Must be mission-driven with a strong interest in improving social good
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to read and understand financial reports
- Strong management background
- Strong project management skills
- Detailed oriented and organized, with strong ability to multi-task and independently
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Must be flexible and enjoy working both independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Minimum 10 years of experience in administrative, operations, or finance management
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization a plus
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
- Commitment to professional ethics in working with confidential, sensitive information
- Extensive computer skills, including intermediate or higher-level proficiency with Microsoft Office and Quickbooks, and experience working with electronic databases, preferably Salesforce preferred

Rebuilding Together NYC (RTNYC) is a nonprofit organization that transforms the lives of New Yorkers by preparing under-employed individuals for careers in construction and preserving homes in under-resourced NYC communities. Through our critical home repair and accessibility modifications program, we improve the safety and health of homes, and through our workforce development program, we re-skill individuals for union apprenticeships. Lastly, through our community revitalization program, we provide opportunities for volunteers to renovate and update non-profit and community centers.
