We are seeking a qualified Assistant Director with a strong commitment to supporting the dignity and well-being of older adults to assist in overseeing the Forest Hills Older Adult Center (FHOAC), which serves over 1500 participants each year through its congregate meal program, weekly food pantry, health promotion activities, educational/recreational opportunities, case management/case assistance, and health management/assistance. This position works under the supervision of the Program Director of the FHOAC/FH NORC-SSP.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining a well-funded, relevant and visible OAC program.
- Assist in developing health/wellness and educational/recreational programs for participants.
- Assist in coordinating transportation for program participants.
- Assist in managing and maintaining NYC Aging/Department of Health contract requirements of the congregate meal program, including management/recording of participant contributions.
- Adhere to QCH and DFTA contract and budget performance standards and regulations.
- Utilize STARS database to upload required program information each day and provide required bi-monthly reports.
- Oversee coordination of weekly food pantry program, including supervision of volunteers.
- Meet planned service and fiscal goals for program contracts.
- Assist with supervision of older adult center (OAC) staff, volunteers and student interns.
- Facilitate the creation and maintenance of a Participant Advisory Council (PAC).
- Assist in increasing program visibility through the creation of program and event calendars, flyers, and other outreach materials.
- Participate in outreach and advocacy efforts.
- Attend required agency meetings and participate in professional development activities.
- Provide staff coverage across sites as needed.
- Meet agency-wide performance standards of QCH and align the program’s operation with the QCH Mission, Vision, and Position (MVP).
Qualifications:
REQUIRED skills/experience/qualities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships
- Self-motivated and resourceful; able to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
PREFERRED skills/experience/qualities:
- Experience working with older adults in an older adult center or similar setting
- Knowledge of benefits/entitlements and community organizing/outreach experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese/Russian) preferred
- PeerPlace and Simple Servings web-based program knowledge
