Chief Programs and Network Officer

THE ROLE

This is an extraordinary time to take the helm of the department of Programs and Network Relations at Island Harvest Food Bank. The new Chief Programs and Network Officer will have the responsibility of building a partnership with the President and CEO, while supervising the

team responsible for executing the programs and services that enable the community and our member agencies network to have increased opportunities for healthy food, support and services that align with the organizations’ mission of “ending hunger and reducing food waste on Long Island”.

The incumbent will be a member of the executive leadership team and will aid in the creation, articulation, and implementation of departmental and organizational goals and objectives.  As a senior level professional, the Chief Programs and Network Officer will actively participate in managing and carrying out the objectives of the organizations’ strategic plan and work closely with

the President and the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate for this important position is an energetic, innovative, visionary professional who also leads by example and is self-motivated.  This candidate works well independently but also excels when working with a team who shares the same passion for success and innovation.  This candidate will have a proven progressive and successful record of accomplishment while managing a team for a complex not-for-profit human services, healthcare or related organization to align with the needs and objectives of an expanding organization.  Demonstrated success in managing a team of professionals is important.  Knowledge of outreach services and network relations is important, as is advanced computer skills. 

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

Island Harvest Food Bank is a leading human services organization whose mission is to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. We accomplish this through innovative programs and

services aimed at enhanced hunger awareness, short-term case management, nutrition education, outreach and advocacy initiatives, our Healthy Harvest Farm, a Workforce Skills Development Institute, and efficient food collection and distribution.

Island Harvest has a network of more than 300 non-profit organizations with whom we work to distribute food, resources and services to our neighbors in need.  We also manage a number of direct service programs to target populations through our mobile market programs.

Our work directly supports children, families, seniors, and veterans who turn to us in times of crisis and supports a network of community-based nonprofit organizations. Island Harvest Food Bank is a member of Feeding America®, a nationwide network of food banks leading the effort to solve hunger in the U.S.
