Position Overview
The Bronx Empowerment Zone Loan Officer will report to the President of Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC) and President of the Business Initiative Corporation of NY.
The position is responsible for several key functions within the BXEDC including business development, loan origination and loan packaging. BXEDC is a fast-paced organization that works closely with small business owners in the Bronx (See www.bxedc.org) . The Empowerment Zone Loan Officer will be responsible for lending, as well as technical assistance for Bronx business owners.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify new, potential borrowers through prospecting, cold calling, networking, generating leads and referrals with a goal of increasing loan production to meet or exceed established production targets.
- Determine initial eligibility of applicants, including evaluation of creditworthiness, fit with mission, geographic service area, use of funds and business viability, collateral availability.
- Assist potential borrowers with loan applications and packaging.
- Conduct loan intakes and site visits.
- Maintain CRM system to manage application intake and for loan origination and pipeline management.
- Perform portfolio management and loan administration tasks as needed.
General Requirements
- BA or BS in business administration, finance, community development or similar field.
- Experience working in business development, lending, banking, economic development, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word,Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with others.
- Energetic, proactive, and organized.
- The position requires work outside of regular office hours and in off-site locations.
