Description: 

Reporting to the AVP, Financial Planning & Analysis, the FP&A Director will provide financial support to the school’s departments and divisions, the senior staff, and the Board of Trustees.  

The FP&A Director will manage the institution-wide budget process at all organizational levels, develop and maintain reporting tools, produce ad hoc analyses, business metrics, and financial models, and provide added-value analytical support to colleagues across the school.

The Director will also ensure the integrity and accuracy of our ERP’s financial data. 

 

This role has a hybrid schedule. The salary range for this role is $145,000-$165,000 annually.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manages the institution-wide budget and planning process together with the AVP. This includes providing sound strategic counsel and technical assistance to department managers preparing financial strategy and budget submissions. Additional responsibilities include consolidating information, analyzing data, monitoring monthly results, and explaining tear-over-year and budget variances,
  • Updates and maintains the school’s multi-year forecast for capital projects.
  • Assists with preparing materials – charts, graphs, and commentary – and providing insightful analyses that describe the school’s strategic goals, budget plans, and results to facilitate decision-making at Senior Staff and Trustee levels 
  • Develops and maintains various financial planning models, tools, and sensitivity analyses to display and interpret budget data and facilitate strategic decisions.
  • Enhance the institution’s budget with Oracle Cloud. Ensure expenses and revenues are recorded accurately using the Oracle school chart string
  • Works with all departments across the school to assess financial reporting needs and develop processes utilizing Oracle’s technology
  • Assists in the integration of the Oracle budget system
  • Together with the Senior Finance and Advancement Analyst, supports the Development Office by preparing analyses and budgets for use in proposals and reporting of actual results needed for stewardship of fund programs
  • Design and automate Business Intelligence dashboards with critical financial and operational data/metrics 
  • Manages one to two staff members, depending on operational need 
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

About you

  • Results-oriented with a strong customer service focus
  • Exceptional financial analysis skills, including proven ability to develop sophisticated financial models and manipulate large data sets; Proficiency in Excel and data transformation and analysis
  • Superior organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to multi-task under strict deadlines
  • Outstanding writing and communications skills, including explaining complex financial plans and results to non-financial and financial professionals. 
  • The successful candidate must work well with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, and administrators), be flexible, and have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (especially Oracle Cloud) (GL + Planning & Consolidation systems)
  • BA/BS preferably in accounting, finance, or quantitative field such as mathematics
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Ability and desire to take initiative and problem-solve while being a team player and contributing to a collegial group environment
  • Understanding of the values and mission of The Juilliard School

 

Preferred Background

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (especially Oracle Cloud), databases, and reporting/analysis packages
  • Use of Oracle Essbase, Microsoft Power BI, Power Query, and Power Pivot
  • Prior involvement with new ERP and budget tool implementations
  • Exposure to financial concepts and accounting practices applicable to not-for-profit organizations 
  • Relevant experience in higher-education institutions
  • Prior management experience
