Overview

A unique and comprehensive creative enrichment studio for preschool-aged children is seeking an experienced, talented, energetic, and creative Assistant Kindergarten teacher for its Fall 2024 through Spring 2025 program for five-year olds. The Fives program offers a global enrichment curricular experience with academic learning in math and ELA studies. The program has highly interdisciplinary offerings arts, music, and Forest School immersion. The Assistant Teacher must be able to offer the Lead Teacher and the classroom community strong support, inspiration, and classroom management skills.

Yoga, creative movement, art, design, storytelling, drama, outdoor nature exploration, and musical expression along with academic learning standards are the main learning foundations of the program’s offerings. All of the curriculum and experiences provided by Studio strive to expose children to learning about various global cultures, compassionate awareness, and nature and the environment.

Studio nurtures a relationship-based, Holistic Process Approach philosophy, and regularly includes the participation of artists and musicians, as well as occasional participation of parents and family members. The program is very energetic and is centered upon exploring movement, music, arts, and sculpture as main proponents and modes of creative learning. Please see our website at www.studiocreativeplay.org for more information about our mission and philosophy.

Teachers with musical proficiency and talent are particularly wanted, especially if they can play an instrument, such as the guitar, to offer regular music to the classroom experience.

In particular, we are seeking warm, nurturing teachers who have a genuine and inspired affinity for working with the four and five year old age group.  The position requires working closely with the Studio teaching team and director, and frequently communicating with and guiding parents. As a relationship-based program, we are seeking those who can commit to our full 10-month program, September 2024 through June 2025. Training begins in the last week of August, and involves two three-hour meetings in July and mid-August for which all faculty are compensated.

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an early childhood arts or educational class environment, and must have experience as an assistant teacher. We also ask for the ability to develop, follow, and implement creativity-based curriculum. Because teachers care for the children for up to 6-hour time spans without parents present, childcare is a core responsibility of the job. We also will only consider applicants who can teach in our program 5 days a week, from 8:15am to 3:45pm daily.

Compensation is $30.00 – $40.00 hourly depending on experience. Health insurance is provided.

Please write to us about your background and what specifically attracts you to our program, philosophical approach, and mission. Tell us what inspires you about our program and what you would offer to a program such as ours.

All applicants must submit a cover letter and resume to be considered.

We look forward to hearing from you!
