Summary/Objective
A House on Beekman is a flourishing educational non-profit organization located in Mott Haven, South Bronx. Our aim is to empower children to flourish by providing programs that focus on academic, social and emotional growth. Aides will join the Babies to Two team as they support students and families in a holistic, nurturing and supportive manner to ensure each child succeeds.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with culturally, ethnically and socio-economically diverse groups of stakeholders (staff, students, parents).

- Adherence to all applicable government regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom management as needed.
- Assist with maintaining a safe and clean environment for students and staff.
- Help with appropriate daily activities for children.
- Clean toys before and after class.
- Greet families and become familiar with caregivers and parents.
- Attend the doorbell and let families into the space.
- Supervise children for safety.
- Assist with breakfast and lunch duties.
- Provide scheduled breaks for teachers, covering classroom duties and responsibilities in their absence.
- Collaborate and actively participate on the Babies-2 team alongside other teachers and staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with staff and students.
- Attend Professional Development staff meetings.
Expected Work Schedule
This is a part-time position, working approximately 25-30 hours a week.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or GED equivalent
- Experience working with young children
- Background check
- NY State Mandated Reporter Training (upon hiring)
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This role will also require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
