Overview:

As an integral member of the Tianjin Juilliard enrollment management team and the New York Tianjin team, this position is based at The Julliard School in New York. Responsibilities include supporting the TJS Enrollment position in managing and running reports from the admissions database, Technolutions’ Slate CRM enrollment management system. This position collaborates primarily with the Tianjin Associate Dean of Enrollment Management and the admissions team based in China in all activities designed to attract and yield top-tier students from around the world to the Tianjin Juilliard School in China. This position is an institutional liaison, working closely with the New York enrollment management offices and engaging the Faculty of both campuses in student recruitment initiatives and in establishing brand visibility for the China campus. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the scholarship program at TJS, and chairing the scholarship committee, awarding students, and managing the student financial appeals process. A balance of technological ability and higher-education professional experience are essential for success, as this position is actively engaged in institutional strategic enrollment and scholarship management.

The salary range for this role is $55,000-$60,000 annually.

Responsibilities:

Enrollment Management, Admissions, Financial Aid

  • Support the Enrollment and Admissions Team as follows:
    • Establish and lead on-going, cross-campus recruitment events that reenforce Juilliard as one institution with two campuses including events with faculty, students, and staff at The Juilliard School in New York
    • Engage New York visiting faculty to develop targeted U.S.-based recruitment efforts that support Tianjin Juilliard’s enrollment goals and initiatives
      • Facilitate communication between faculty of both campuses
      • Serve as primary contact for New York visiting faculty to provide information about Tianjin Juilliard programs and opportunities for prospective applicants
      • An on-site point person for New York visiting faculty for questions and processes related to the Tianjin Juilliard School
    • Serve as an integral member of the Graduate Admissions Committee
    • Coordinate and lead both Graduate and Pre-College Scholarship meetings
    • Provide financial overview of applicants under admission consideration to award scholarship equitably and in line with enrollment goals
    • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management, Tianjin campus, in scholarship budget projections to meet enrollment needs
  • Diplomatic liaison between the Tianjin and New York Juilliard admission offices
    • Facilitate communication between Tianjin and New York enrollment management teams, including organizing calls, meetings, and admission committee review process
  • Organize, facilitate, and run U.S. regional auditions for the Tianjin Juilliard School, managing the audition environment so that applicants feel welcomed and supported
  • Represent the Tianjin Juilliard School at U.S. recruitment events
  • Provide excellent customer service and in-office recruitment support
    • Answer phone and email inquiries during U.S. business hours
    • Act as institutional ambassador, meeting with prospective students and applicants to the Tianjin Juilliard School, from the New York offices
  • Participate in ongoing professional development for awareness of recruitment strategies, issues, and best practices in higher education

Enrollment Management, Technology

  • Support Slate Captain (TJS Enrollment Position) in all aspects of Slate activities including:
    • Identify, organize, and extract data through building reports as needed
    • Slate support for Director of Admissions, Tianjin campus including upload of recordings and supplemental materials
  • Data Analysis related to Financial Aid and Scholarship
    • Utilize data from past years to recommend awarding adjustments to maximize yield and address student financial need, while remaining within budget
    • Analyze applicant/prospect behavior in order to make recommendations regarding how the institution should engage with prospects relative to affordability
    • Function as an institutional resource to ensure that data and technological resources relative to scholarship and financial aid are utilized effectively to serve the needs of applicants and faculty across divisions

Enrollment Management and Admissions

  • Coordinate with Public Affairs team at The Juilliard School in New York to help establish a robust communication plan that clearly outlines how scholarships work, and issues of affordability, quality, price, etc. that impact applicant and student decision making.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Position will require some evening and weekend work, especially for communication with the team in China
  • Some travel should be expected

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with computer applications, web-based tools, and social media
  • 3+ years of administrative experience
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Experience with data analysis and statistics
  • Extremely organized, accurate, and attentive to detail
  • Understanding of and committed to diversity and the mission of The Juilliard School
  • Strong diplomatic skills, with attention to bridging teams in two locations and cultures, and working with a diverse applicant pool from around the world
  • Demonstrated experience delivering friendly, patient, and thorough customer service
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision
  • An excellent and collaborative colleague and team member
  • Ability to travel, sometimes on evenings and weekends

Preferred Background:

  • Management and development experience within Technolutions’ Slate, a customer relationship management database
  • Management experience with scholarship/financial aid in an educational setting
  • Higher education degree in the performing arts
  • Work experience, with intermediate level of responsibility, within an admission office in higher education and the arts
  • Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. Willingness to begin learning Mandarin if no previous fluency
