The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.

For more than two decades, the Gender and Family Justice Department has worked to improve the ways in which the justice system responds to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The program combines lessons learned at the local level with the latest research to deliver community-led, data-driven support and expertise to jurisdictions nationwide.

The Gender and Family Justice Department is seeking a Resource Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Family Court Programs, the Resource Coordinator will provide regular written and verbal updates and compliance reports to the court, including to judges, clerks, defense attorneys, and prosecutors. The Resource Coordinator will also gather and organize all related court information pertaining to the litigants and assist with intake assessments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Work with court staff to directly serve litigants;
  • Provide ongoing information and technical assistance to courtroom staff on programmatic issues;
  • Develop and implement protocols with off-site agencies;
  • Oversee the submission of required reports and compliance-related paperwork;
  • Coordinate new referrals and schedule litigants for intake and assessments;
  • Work collaboratively with staff and criminal justice and social service agencies to coordinate the delivery of services;
  • Serve as a liaison between the Court and private and public agencies;
  • Participate in program planning and development;
  • Identify appropriate services for referral;
  • Facilitate linkages with community service providers;
  • Collaborate and communicate professionally with all participants, legal parties, and other project stakeholders;
  • Additional responsibilities, as needed.

Position Location: Rockland County Domestic Violence Hub Court in the 9th Judicial District 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience working in a criminal court setting and/or human service field OR 3-4 years of equivalent experience;
  • CSW or related degree preferred;
  • Knowledge and/or lived experience related to the criminal justice system and its impacts on communities;
  • Familiarity with the Criminal Court, Family Court and Supreme Court (Matrimonial Parts);
  • Background in domestic violence issues or related preferred;
  • Ability to interact with members of the judiciary and social service providers;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organization skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation: Hourly rate begins at $26.18 per hour and is commensurate with experience Excellent benefits package including comprehensive health, dental and life insurance, four weeks paid vacation, paid sick time, TransitChek, Flexible Spending Account plans for health and dependent care, a 403(b) retirement plan and a 401(k) retirement plan with a generous employer match.
