Job Title: After-School Staff & Lunch Duty

Position Type: Part-Time

Reports To: Director of Student life

  1. Salary Range 50 to 18.00 an hour

Work Hours: Weekdays – 12:00-5:30 Lunch Duty hours (approx. 12:00PM – 2:00 PM) and After-School hours (approx. 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

Launch Charter School is hiring part-time staff to support lunch duty and after-school programming, Monday–Friday (12:00–5:30 PM). Team members help create a safe, positive environment for middle school students—supervising lunch and recess, resolving conflicts respectfully, and leading engaging after-school activities like homework help, arts, sports, and games. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, has strong communication skills, and wants to be part of a supportive school community.

Lunch Duty:

  • Monitor and supervise students during lunch and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Encourage healthy eating habits and good table manners.
  • Manage conflict resolution and behavior incidents calmly and respectfully.
  • Ensure cleanliness of lunch areas before and after meal times.
  • Supervise outdoor recess
  • Report any health or behavioral concerns to appropriate staff.

After-School Group Leader:

  • Supervise middle school students in a structured after-school environment.
  • Plan and implement engaging age-appropriate activities (e.g., arts & crafts, sports, homework help, games).
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere that supports social and emotional development.
  • Ensure the safety and accountability of all students at all times, including during check-in and check-out.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school personnel.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports.
  • Enforce program rules and expectations consistently and respectfully.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in a group setting (school, camp, daycare, etc.).
  • Ability to manage groups of children in a positive and effective manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background checks in accordance with school or program policy.
