Summary: 

 The Bowery Mission is a holistic, faith-based organization dedicated to serving people who are experiencing homelessness.  The Clinical Services department provides an integrated continuum of care starting at our front doors at the Tribeca Campus where we invite guests to experience our radical hospitality via services by our Choose Team. 

 The Manager is a key leader who manages and supports Ambassadors and Social Workers at the Tribeca Campus to establish a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed community that serves as the first point of contact for guests to experience the transformational love of Jesus Christ demonstrated in practical actions and invites guests to Choose Help (CH). Equip and train Social Workers and Ambassadors to develop unified and dynamic Day Center programming, while building trusting, healthy relationships through comprehensive assessment and addressing basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, medical care, etc.). Support team to achieve excellence in standards of radical hospitality, clinical support, and physical safety, including fire safety and crisis intervention. Foster effective and supportive collaboration across campus departments, including Clinical, Community Life, Operations, and Volunteer Services. In collaboration with the Director, Choose Help and Development teams, foster new external partnerships to expand Day Center Programming. This role may also support or serve as Campus Leader. The Manager also supports the campus in fostering effective cross-department collaboration and an environment that best supports guests.  

 Reports to: Program Director, Choose Help

 Key Responsibilities include:

  • Program Management: Ensure effective trauma-informed practices that foster a safe, welcoming, healthy, and caring environment.
  • Oversee implementation of all Day Center activities, guests’ program orientation, and Needs and Psychosocial Assessments to ensure guests are connected to appropriate services, including program referrals.
  • Oversee CH teams and effectively collaborate with Community Life, Shared Services, volunteers, and community partners to create and achieve standards of excellence in hospitality.
  • Assign Ambassador caseload and provide Motivational Interviewing training to support a familiar and trusting rapport between guests and Ambassadors.
  • Oversee evaluations, assessments, and internal/external referrals
  • Conduct quality assurance review of clinical interventions, services, and procedure
  • Ensure records meet internal and external requirements

  Required:

  • Embraces the organization’s Statement of Faith
  • 3 years experience in ministry, non-profit, or human services management with strong customer service duties clinical services, and clinical supervisory responsibilities
  • Master of Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, or a combination of education and additional work experience
  • LMHC, LMSW, LCSW
  • Experience in treatment and recovery processes for trauma and co-occurring disorders
  • Excellent skills in leading and motivating teams
  • Effective communication and recordkeeping
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficient in office computer technology

 Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience, working in residential or shelter settings
  • Strong knowledge of NYC job and housing market
  • Certifications in Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR
  • Formal education or training in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care
  • Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish a plus
