Overview

Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) is a comprehensive supplemental education and youth development organization that works to help motivated students develop the intellectual curiosity, academic ability, social values, and personal resilience they need to ensure success in school, career, and life. HEAF identifies scholars in middle school and supports them until they graduate from a four-year college through various after-school and summer educational and youth development programs.

Position Description:

Learning for Social Impact (LSI) is a service-learning initiative that combines community service with direct reflection, academic learning, youth exchange, and travel. LSI aims to promote its participants’ educational, cultural, cognitive, and social competencies and complete a sustainable service project that addresses a community need. The course culminates with a 5–10 day trip of approximately fifteen-twenty HEAF students visiting the community and culture studied, where they complete the service aspect of the project. This year we anticipate learning about a country within the Caribbean Islands.

The ideal candidate has a passion for youth development, is open to rethinking the way students learn, is innovative, and will be able to utilize various instructional models. We ask that teachers be creative, fun, and engaging. The ability to create a safe and rich learning environment online is essential.
