The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary:  

At the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, we are on a mission to discover the top, diverse talent needed to drive our mission. The Talent Acquisition Manager will spearhead our talent acquisition efforts by partnering with hiring managers and senior leaders to provide a best-in-class recruitment experience for all stakeholders. This is a cross-functional, highly collaborative role that will require you to think strategically about sourcing hires, hiring efficiencies, hiring plans, employer branding, and data analytics.

 

This position is based in our NYC office. Currently, our staff is expected in the office two days each week and works remotely the remaining three days.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for multiple searches to bring the best talent to each role and ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Work with hiring managers to develop job postings and identify essential job position functions.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand hiring needs and goals, and to develop, implement, and execute a custom hiring strategy.
  • Build strong, credible relationships with senior leaders and critical stakeholders, operating as a trusted advisor and business partner.
  • Establish strong relationships with external vendors and oversee their work recruiting for Foundation roles.
  • Manage contract recruiters as needed.
  • Identify and engage unique and/or passive candidates through creative sourcing techniques.
  • Post and maintain postings for open roles on internal and external sites.
  • Attract, source, and screen candidates using a variety of innovative techniques including social networking and direct sourcing, while staying abreast of developing market conditions and trends in the industry.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies that are designed to identify qualified candidates through various recruiting tools (direct sourcing, diversity initiatives, social media, etc.).
  • Facilitate interview and hiring discussions with interviewers and hiring managers.
  • Keep hiring managers updated on a weekly basis on the status of their openings.
  • Lead bi-monthly meetings with executive staff on status of their area’s openings.
  • Understand the organization’s Employee Value Proposition and know how to translate it into employer brand techniques.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all levels of hiring managers within the organization.
  • Attend networking events and keep informed of recruiting trends.
  • Manage the pre-onboarding process (extend offers, initiate background checks, and create offer letters) for new hires.
  • Manage pipeline activity and maintain data integrity, and proactively share data-centric updates with internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and assist with various Talent Acquisition related special projects on an ongoing or ad hoc basis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a recruitment and talent acquisition role.
  • A leader in full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition best practices.
  • Experience articulating an organization’s Employee Value Proposition and the ability to translate it into employer brand techniques.
  • Has a strong professional network to ensure their finger is on the pulse of a changing talent acquisition landscape.
  • Demonstrates critical relationship building skills at all levels.
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills and the proven ability to drive multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of the team.   
  • Adept problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decisions and actions. 
  • Proven ability to influence others to action.
  • Experience in not-for-profit recruitment, especially fundraising, business development, and research related positions.
  • Experience developing bespoke recruiting strategies while sourcing candidates, including non-traditional methods.
  • Proven ability to cultivate a pipeline of passive candidates and encourage leaders to meet top talent, even if there is no open job.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle high volume workload and a fast paced environment.

  • Assure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Experience recruiting across multiple locations in North America preferred.
