Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside Community Center (GRCC) Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools Program at Edward Reynolds West Side High School will provide students over-aged and under-credited ages 15 -21 with services and opportunities to foster engagement through academic and personal development that will lead to earning a high school diploma. Primary goals are getting students to graduate with realistic and meaningful post-secondary plans, gain knowledge and skills that will increase the employability and awareness of post-high school opportunities available to them. Some opportunities include higher education, trade/technical schools and community service programs. Using the Primary Person Model, each student will have an LTW Staff Member as a support minimize and/or remove barriers toward graduation including engaging students in college preparation, and meaningful career exploration including subsidized internships, academic and personal support services to increase self-direction and self-sufficiency.
Purpose of Position: The LTW Program Director is expected, under general direction, to ensure the smooth day-to-day running and supervision of program-related staff and services in accordance with all program goals, targets, and performance outcomes and adhere to all GRCC program policies, procedures, and protocols.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, some evenings and weekends
Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.
Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
- Oversee all daily operations
- Ensure successful launch of program with supervisors including hiring, training and supervision of program staff and collaborating with the NYCDOE Staff and the school community.
- Provide coordination and oversight of all program components including but not limited to Case Management, Internship Placement, Career Exploration, College Prep, Academic and other Support Services.
- In collaboration with school leadership and ADED, develop program protocols and practices and modify as needed.
- Oversee and participate in the development of partnerships with organizations and entities needed to meet contractual outcomes including colleges & universities, private and public sectors companies for internships placements, community-based organizations and other key partnerships, in partnership with supervisors.
- Manage Program Budget in consultation with Associate Deputy Executive Director (ADED) and Deputy Executive Director (DED).
- Oversee student recruitment assessment, attendance and follow-up.
- Develop and maintain data collection systems and program reports as needed
- Strategize with team for program improvement.
- Maintain and organize all required records and files according to organization and contractual requirements and standards.
- Supervise program team and provide leadership support to ensure professional development and a healthy work environment for LTW Staff and School Community.
- Initiate functions such as special events, performances, school community events.
- Attend and organize, when appropriate, school / community-based meetings, administrative meetings, professional development trainings and other meetings as needed.
- Participate in advocacy and community building efforts as needed to bring visibility and voice for the program, school community and Goddard Riverside Community Center.
- Participate in all Goddard Riverside meetings of youth department and department heads, and agency-wide events and activities
- Complete task and/ projects assigned by ADED and DED.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of two years of Supervisory experience
- Experience with teens, older youth and/or young adults
- Must obtain Department of Education fingerprint clearance and maintain throughout duration of employment.
