Job Summary

We are a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Development Associate will provide administrative support for a fast-paced development department, which is responsible for raising a minimum of $7M annually. During peak event related activities, this position will take direction from the Director of Development Communications and Events.

 

Job Requirements

BCNY is a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. To that end, we require that all BCNY employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. BCNY requires all staff to receive a booster shot that protects against COVID-19 once they become eligible. New employees will be asked to submit proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. BCNY treats proof of vaccination confidentially and consistent with applicable law, and will not use the information for any purpose other than to ensure compliance with BCNY’s mandatory vaccination policy. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed expense reports and reconcile with Finance department.
  • Support department prospecting efforts—manage solicitation preparation for MDD and CEO, including collecting and curating relevant materials, designing presentations, drafting talking points, and tracking donor research.
  • Draft meeting agendas, including bi-weekly team meetings and send/track team action items in conjunction with MDD.
  • Support the Fall and Spring Appeals by reviewing lists, personalizing letters where appropriate, and organizing mass mailings.
  • Participate in content development and send email marketing to donors, including e-newsletters, holiday messages, solicitations, and other collateral.
  • Responsible for processing gifts and sending acknowledgement letters to donors in a timely fashion.
  • Collaborate with the development team in drafting acknowledgment letters, solicitation letters, you-made-a-difference notes, and other donor correspondence.
  • Provide support to MDD to prepare for board committees (development and COT).
  • Assist Special Event team as needed.
  • Oversee the development calendar, including keeping abreast of clubhouse activities, and distribute it on a regular basis to appropriate staff.
  • Responsible for opening development’s daily mail and distributing it to appropriate staff.
  • Track and order supplies for the department.
  • Update donor records in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Other tasks, as assigned, to fulfill the goals of BCNY and the development team.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Professional and customer service oriented approach with board members, donors, vendors, and staff
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects with high attention to organization and detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with donors, executives, vendors, and other staff members
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Boys Club of New York
