Overview

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 1-3 years experience with data analysis, data extraction and data mining (preferred, but not essential); Working knowledge of SAS and/or SPSS, and ability to setup connections and train researchers on basics of querying; Ability to design robust data reports; Ability to multi-task and set priorities; Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends; BS in Computer Science, Statistics or related field preferred;

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Raw Data Manipulation: Quickly and accurately convert large (millions of pieces of data) files into clean databases, even when the original files were not designed for that purpose.
  • Data Importing: Load data files from various sources into a single database server, converting the data to be linked with other sources.  At times, this will involve completely redesigning the data structure to match with other data sources or to meet research needs.
  • Database Design: Designing new databases for a range of data that is generated from fieldwork.  Querying large sources like Lexis-Nexis, court records, SEC filings, etc., so that data can be queried on and linked in to other data sources.  Designing ways to import this data.         
  • Day to Day Tasks: Working with Researchers to index and optimize data tables for efficient linking and searches.  Aid Researchers in query construction.
  • Dealing with data conversions, text field manipulation, and complex calculations.
  • Track and integrate new versions or correct the data that become available.
  • Monitor data backup and user access. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
