Overview

The Associate Director, 92NY Rentals and Events will be responsible for defining and delivering the Institution’s strategy regarding commercial rentals through the identification, cultivation and successful engagement of businesses, caterers, event planners and others in order to achieve financial targets. The Director will be responsible for the sustained growth and delivery of a thriving rental business that maximizes revenue from rental events. The Director will serve as a member of the Spaceadmin Team, and manage the schedule for all program spaces throughout the building. Supports the Director of Theater Operations across all functions of the department.

  • Formulate, direct and drive 92NY’s rental strategy that ensures significant and sustained growth in income generation.
  • Proactively identify and cultivate new rental clients across both established and new business areas, with a particular focus on developing technology conferences, ensuring that all rental agreements align with 92NY’s aims, values and ethical standards.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Department develop and launch an effective and on-going marketing campaign that establishes 92NY as a leading rental venue within New York.
  • Drive the identification of potential rental opportunities, arising from current and future programming activities, by engaging Program Center Directors in the process of recognizing tie-in opportunities.
  • Cultivate and capitalize on existing associations with key NYC event planners as well as identify and develop new relationships.
  • Responsible for the strategic planning, development, costing, scheduling, staffing for each rental, ensuring adherence to the terms of rental contracts, staging and technical requirements, insurance riders
  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, purchasing, inventory control, invoicing and budgetary management in relation to rentals and bar activity.
  • Responsible for the management and discipline, when necessary, of theater operation staff.
  • Establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and standards relating to Rental operations.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate each rental activity in order to identify future growth and to achieve optimum levels of repeat rental opportunities.
  • In conjunction with Spaceadmin team, manage the schedule for program spaces throughout the building, and any outside venues used for 92NY programs.
  • Support the Director of Theater Operations in relation to the day-to-day operations of Kaufmann Concert Hall and other event space, including assigning work to, and the management of, Local One Stage Hands.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience within commercial rentals.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within the commercial venue rental industry and proven successful management experience and events execution.
  • Track record of business development evidencing consistent financial growth.
  • Active and current network within the events and rental industry.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Credible decision maker able to achieve financial targets and support team.

40 hours per week.

This position is approved to utilize a hybrid working model which is subject to change in the future.
