Position: Finance Manager
AABR, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for an Accounting
Manager in College Point, Queens NY. The Accounting Manager operates under the
guidance of the Director of Finance and must be a team player with good
communication, analytical, computer skills and current with non-profit accounting. The Accounting Manager is responsible for
maintaining the financial records of the Agency for AABR, Inc. and AABR
Foundation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide monthly variance analysis to all programs and resolve discrepancies.
- Provides financial status information by preparing special reports, completing
- special projects.
- Responsible for the completion of the CFR schedules and other reports submitted to
- state agencies for appropriate reimbursement to the agency as assigned.
- Participates in agency auditing process. Analyzes accounts by defining, describing and
- verifying numerical data for accuracy and reconciling to relevant
- information.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements for agency. Records
- monthly journal entries and enters information into general ledger.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all assigned A/R and revenue accounts.
- Analyze agency spending as it relates to program budgets to ensure that budgets
- are contained, cost effectiveness is applied, and funding from government
- sources is maximized.
- Supervise, train and evaluate staff accountant.
- Ensure timely recording of revenue/receivable entries and appropriate coding of
- cash receipts on an ongoing basis throughout the month Analyses
- Proficient in all areas relating to accounting software (Blackbaud Systems).
- Prepares new reports and maintains existing reports.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for restricted and unrestricted contributions
- through coordination with the Development department to ensure all
- contributions are reported correctly and within the proper net asset
- class.
- Ensure accuracy of rates for AABR according to respective NYS CFR and OPWDD/ DOH
- rate setting methodology and communicate discrepancies to state agencies
- with satisfactory resolution.
- Attend meetings and conferences presented by government agencies and provider
- groups regarding changes in guidelines, requirements and regulations
- affecting financial reports and fiscal accountability.
- Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ progressive related experience, preferably in non-profit, i.e. OPWDD/healthcare industry preferred.
- CPA Preferred
- Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications required as well as
- experience utilizing Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting software.
Blackbaud experience preferred
