Overview

The Association of Community Employment Programs (ACE) empowers individuals with histories of homelessness, incarceration, and addiction to secure full-time employment and achieve long-term economic independence. We serve individuals throughout NYC, providing job training, work experience, a host of wrap-around services, and a lifetime support network.

ACE seeks an Associate for its aftercare program, Project Stay. Project Stay assists graduates of our job-readiness training program with maintaining employment, increasing earning power over time, and transitioning to economic independence. Under the supervision of the Aftercare Coordinator, the associate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Employment Retention & Tracking

  • Remain in contact with graduates via meetings, phone contact, and occasional visits to places of employment
  • Explore work-related issues with graduates, troubleshoot employment issues, provide coaching and support in resolving issues
  • Facilitate monthly groups for graduates, focusing on work-related and independent living topics
  • Track graduate employment data and collect pay stubs, as directed by Aftercare Coordinator

Transitioning to Independence / Establishing a Supportive Network

  • Address issues related to the transition to independent living including housing, healthcare, transitioning off of benefits, financial health, sobriety management, wellness, and time management
  • Assist with the coordination of bi – monthly social events for graduates and program participants
  • Foster a supportive community that encourages graduates to remain connected to ACE, develop programming as appropriate to respond to graduate needs
  • Provide light-touch financial coaching to graduates and/or connect graduates with financial coaches
  • Facilitate classes for participants in our job-readiness program, preparing them for the transition to employment

Job Search Support / Vocational Advancement

  • Provide job search support as needed for graduates, update resumes
  • Assist graduates in accessing educational and professional opportunities to increase earning power
  • Work with Project Stay Coordinator to connect graduates to training grants

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating graduation ceremonies and social events
  • Assist with publishing of monthly graduate newsletter
  • Manage ACE text line for mass communications with graduates
  • Maintain graduate Facebook page
  • Make referrals to and maintain relationships with support services and outside agencies, as needed
  • All other duties assigned by Aftercare Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • At least two years experience in human services is desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and internet navigation; comfortable learning new programs
  • An ability to excel in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Organized, meticulous, and comfortable working with data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable working with a diverse population
  • A commitment to helping formerly homeless individuals transition to self-sufficiency and pursue their long-term vocational goals
