Overview
Association to Benefit Children, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring that every child has a joyful, healthy, and safe life through compassionate and innovative programs since 1986, is hiring a School Nurse for one of their Early Childhood programs serving children birth-age 5.
This is a full-time position. Hours are 8am-4pm.
Responsibilities of the School Nurse
- Treat children who are injured or sick.
- Coordinate with outside providers to implement health screenings.
- Coordinate with kitchen team and nutritionist on allergy list and nutritional needs of children.
- Track immunization and medical exams for staff and children. Arrange medical screenings and make referrals.
- Maintain tracking and follow up of screenings on ChildPlus.
- Advocate for health promotion and management of children through connecting with parents and providers in the community
- Track the health compliance training of staff (CPR/First Aid).
- Oversee the compliance of our Health Care Plan and Monitor/update regularly as needed.
- Liaise with community regarding Asthma Initiative and Health Fair.
- Present semi-annually at the ABC Health Service Advisory Committee.
Qualifications of the School Nurse
- Degree and certification in Nursing (LPN or R.N.) or Physician’s Assistant (P.A.)
- Experience with young children (birth to age 5)
- Spanish-speaking preferred
