The Open Society University Network (OSUN) is a global network anchored by Bard College and the Central European University that integrates learning and the advancement of knowledge across geographic and demographic boundaries, promotes civic engagement on behalf of open societies, and expands access of underserved communities to higher education.

Bard College invites applications for the position of Senior Development Officer for OSUN, who will support the fundraising of the OSUN Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and Managing Director and will coordinate efforts of OSUN program leaders to secure grants and donations from new donors.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective major donors to identify new funding sources for OSUN programs 
  • Support OSUN leaders in all phases of fundraising from prospect identification to stewardship 
  • Draft proposals for foundations and individual major donors 
  • Prepare correspondence with prospects, reports on program impact, and other fundraising materials 
  • Develop, organize, and implement a plan for stewardship of current donors
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions with donors and prospects 
  • Advise and coordinate OSUN program leaders on their grant proposals and outreach to individual prospects 
  • Coordinate fundraising activities with the OSUN Secretariat

Qualifications

  • BA in a humanities, social science, or other discipline relevant to OSUN
  • 7-10 years of experience in fundraising from major individual donors and/or foundations 
  • Proven track record in supporting institutional leaders in securing six-figure or larger gifts
  • Highly skilled in prospect research and pipeline management 
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills 
  • Superb attention to detail 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, prioritize under pressure, meet deadlines, trouble-shoot, and follow projects through to completion
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and work independently with high self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in carrying out responsibilities
  • Experience working with international partners 
  • Familiarity with international higher education preferred
  • Availability to travel
  • Flexibility for some evening and weekend work
