About the Executive Director Role:

BRIC seeks a seasoned, experienced and dynamic Executive Director for its flagship program BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! who will continue the momentum of over 40 years of summer programming at Prospect Park. Under the leadership of BRIC’s President and reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this is a key role in BRIC’s leadership structure and will design, lead, and implement innovative and meaningful events for diverse local, national and global audiences.

What You’ll Do in the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer (CPO), the Executive Director of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! will be responsible for the following: 

  • In partnership with the Chief Program Officer, oversee the artistic, production, and operational vision of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! and implement the vision of the flagship program, overseeing a budget of $2 million and managing an overall team of full time and approximately 75 seasonal staff.
  • Oversee full time staff: Artistic Director, Producers, Operations Associates and more that produce and facilitate all elements of the festival. Work with the People and Culture department to ensure that department is staffed and supported appropriately, ensuring key responsibilities are identified, suggesting opportunities to restructure and scale up as needed.
  • Work with BRIC’s Executive Team to conceptualize and hire BCB Artistic Director, to lead the artistic and curatorial voice of  BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! and BRIC. 
  • Supervise the BCB Artistic Director to conceive, imagine and execute the artistic vision including strategizing of thematic areas and connections to BRIC’s broader identity, and vetting artist and partner ideas.
  • Work with the President and Chief Development Officer to establish and reach investment and revenue goals. 
  • Collaborate with the Development Team on identifying public and private revenue opportunities and developing compelling grant proposals. Work closely on cultivating memberships and membership experience. 
  • Identify, develop, and increase revenue sources of contributed and earned income for BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! including but not limited to sponsorship opportunities and ticketed benefit shows. 
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and BRIC’s media team on multi-platform capture and distribution plan for all festival IP.  Roll out accompanying marketing campaigns, with an eye on creating opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Work with BRIC’s Production and Operations teams to streamline and build capacity for BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! processes by moving to a One BRIC model in the next 2-4 years. 
  • Be a champion of the vision of the One BRIC model ensuring continuous programming and collaboration with other programmatic departments at BRIC including but not limited to contemporary art, education, media, performing arts and BRIClab.
  • Liaise with community and government agencies having jurisdiction over the Prospect Park Bandshell and other public sites/venues as appropriate.
  • Cultivate artists and industry relationships to secure the most exciting projects for BRIC programs and to build long term relationships and opportunities beyond BCB. 
  • As needed, act as a spokesperson, conducting media interviews, emceeing special events, and representing at donor and external industry events.

You’ll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:

  • Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for BRIC’s support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity.
  • 7-10 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility with at least 3 years in a leadership role, overseeing performance arts, summer festivals.   
  • Experience leading an organization or department of a performing arts organization, including oversight of staff. A proven leader in working collaboratively across organizations 
  • Entrepreneurial leadership capacity – flexible and able to create and implement a vision
  • Experience with both contributed and earned revenue sources. Able to cultivate donor and member relationships.

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $150K-$160K
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
