About the Part-Time Usher Role: 

BRIC seeks enthusiastic individuals for the part-time position of Usher. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, Ushers will serve as the ticket takers and greeters to the audience members at performing arts events, including concerts, work-in-progress showings, dance performances and more.

What You’ll Do in the Role:

The part time Usher will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Operations Manager:

  • Scan and check all tickets
  • Politely direct and escort patrons to their seats
  • Greet audiences at performances, answer general questions 
  • Provide patrons with programs and other relevant materials
  • Be aware of and enforce appropriate house rules 
  • Other duties as directed

  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment while remaining calm, friendly, and attentive
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Availability to work evening hours and weekends
  • Patron services, retail or sales experience 
  • Prior experience at live performance venues, knowledge of Ticketfly is a plus but not required.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven team player. Skilled communicator and relationship builder.  
  • Organization & Time Management: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks across competing deadlines, and be proactive. 

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The rate of pay for this position is $18/hour.
  • Status and location: This is a part-time role based in our Brooklyn office, 15-20 hours per week. Regular weekend hours available. Candidates must be from the NYC area.
