COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY

To prioritize our school community’s well-being, health, and safety, Brooklyn Laboratory Charter School will require all staff members to have completed their full COVID-19. In compliance with federal and state laws, we will be offering exemptions to employees who, for medical or strongly held religious reasons, cannot be vaccinated.

ABOUT BROOKLYN LAB

Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools (LAB) is a network of open enrollment, college-prep, and public charter schools that prepares students with the academic foundation, digital literacy, and leadership skills necessary to excel in college and professional life as they grow as ethical leaders.

The LAB Formula:

  • More Time in School: Extended day, week, and school year focused on academic learning and unique enrichment activities (e.g., Robotics, Digital Media, Coding, Debate, Visual Arts).
  • High-Dose Tutoring: Personalized, small-group tutoring from trained college graduates for at least two hours daily.
  • Next Generation Learning: A college prep curriculum with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) -focused enrichment activities to prepare students to succeed in jobs of the future. 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Office Manager, you will drive student achievement by ensuring that their school operates smoothly, efficiently, and consistently. The Office Manager will manage the Operations Associates efficiently and consistently.

The Office Manager is responsible for school-wide events, site-level procurement, facility safety and operations, scholar and family communication, health & safety protocols, and school-site reporting. This role will also lead the implementation of network-wide policies and work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to set and model the vision for operational excellence across LAB. 

The Office Manager will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Operations:

  • Serving as the primary contact for all of the school’s constituents in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Answering and directing phone calls in a courteous manner.
  • Welcoming visitors in a warm and friendly manner, and answering any questions visitors have.
  • Maintaining the reception area and all common areas in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
  • Keeping detailed and accurate records of visitor requests throughout the day.
  • Executes service delivery and coordinates with other teams across school sites (e.g., food services). 
  • Monitors vendor services and gathers and provides feedback to vendors. 
  • Engages in formal monthly walk-throughs of Operational core systems to evaluate the quality of execution and responds to gaps accordingly. 
  • Designs and implements school-wide systems that facilitate student achievement and align with network-wide best practices. 
  • Supervises security activities and Operations personnel. Coordinates staff readiness to deal with emergency security issues. Monitors operations to ensure alignment with compliance standards.

Building Management

  • Collaborate with school safety and custodial around the maintenance of the campuses.
  • Assist with campus upkeep and beautification initiatives.
  • This job occasionally requires lifting up to 30-50 pounds.

Data & Systems

  • Ensuring all the Student Information System (SIS) entries are up to date with accurate student and staff information. 
  • Serving as the point person for all PowerSchool inquiries for the network
  • Leading training for all school-based staff on proper usage of SIS and PowerSchool and responding if any gaps in entry emerge

Student Enrollment:

  • Support student recruitment by prepping for open houses and other recruitment events.
  • Support enrollment team by following up with families, checking documents as needed
  • Support the enrollment team during the months of March, April, and May with lottery preparations, new parent calls, and event support.
  • Oversee the Operations Associate management of our student information system and student records.
  •  Assist the Principals and COO in facilitating professional development for the instructional and operational staff on implementing school-wide systems. 
  • Collaborate with school leadership to manage school site operational staff (facilities and maintenance staff, supervisors, and contractors), including facilitating internal audits.
  • Managing the entry to student grades and following up with the appropriate personnel 
  • Performs other duties as assigned**

**Other duties based on the school’s and its scholars’ needs.

ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong computer skills, including fluency with Google productivity tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with data analysis
  • Excellent project management skills and customer service orientation
  • Ability to self-manage in a highly professional work environment, which requires interfacing with constituencies at the network and schools levels
  • Experience with ATS and PowerSchool is a plus
  • Charter school experience is a plus
  • BA/BS from an accredited institution 

ABOUT BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:

Brooklyn LAB staff will receive a competitive salary and benefits package that improves over time and is competitive with other New York City charter schools.

The salary for this role is budgeted from $65,000-70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and expertise.
