Overview

The work of Center for Family Life (CFL) is grounded in the daily, lived experience of the Sunset Park community and guided by a vision of neighborhood families and social institutions evolving over time and contributing to each other’s ongoing development. Its comprehensive range of services aims to sustain and nurture families, and to create a supportive community from which children can emerge as confident, capable adults. Through our extensive portfolio of integrated services, Center for Family Life serves over 15,000 individuals in over 8,000 families each year. It has a budget in excess of $12 million annually derived from grants and contracts with New York City and New York State agencies and significant support from major foundations that support human services in New York City. CFL is developing a robust program of support from individuals interested in the well-being of the Sunset Park Community.

CFL has contracted with BTQ Financial Services to manage accounting and claiming operations. The Director of Finance is the primary liaison with BTQ. The Finance Associate reports to the Director of Finance. This is a full-time on-site position.

I. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Support Director of Finance with all finance and budget-related matters in collaboration with BTQ
  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including but not limited to, coding of invoices, credit card reconciliation, vendor registration, deposit log
  • Support Director of Finance in executing bi-weekly payroll and related reporting
  • Support Director of Finance in agency budget development process
  • Support Director of Finance in analyzing monthly financial reports, communicating trends to program directors
  • Assist Director of Finance in preparing requested documents for audits by funders and CFL’s independent auditor
  • Help prepare materials for 990 and other required filing documents
  • Other projects as assigned by the Director of Finance

II. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of three years accounting experience
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player
