YOUR ROLE

COAF is seeking a Development Associate based in the New York City area. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated and energized, ready to assist as well as lead projects in development, fundraising, and events.

If you are facilitative and focused, ready to play an active role to ensure the organization stays ahead of the curve, then being the Development Associate at COAF (Children of Armenia Charitable Fund) is a perfect role for you.

More specifically:

  • Process donations and issue tax-acknowledgement letters on a weekly basis.
  • Organize and maintain donor information in Keela CRM.
  • Conduct research for prospective grants and institutional partnerships.
  • Lead silent auction for an annual holiday gala.
  • Handle gift entry and reconciliation for all fundraising events – including our two largest annual fundraisers: the Summer Soiree and Holiday Gala.
  • Use Keela CRM to filter information, send out reports, analyze data, and put together mailing lists.
  • Work with the communications team on e-blast schedule, delivery, and messaging.
  • Obtain institutional knowledge about our key donors and their donating patterns.
  • Support with bookkeeping and office finances.

YOUR TEAM

In your capacity as Development Associate you will be joining the COAF Development team and will work under the leadership of COAF’s Finance Manager and our Small Gifts Officer.

YOU

We’re expecting your best and require that:

You Know

  • Strategic development approaches in non-profit and as you have 1-2 years of working experience.
  • How to assist collaborative, complex, and diversified fundraising projects, coordinate the work of other development professionals, and ensure accountability.
  • English as a native speaker
  • Microsoft Suite and Google Suite mid to advanced level

You Can

  • Work with nonprofit CRMs as you have 1-2 years of work experience.
  • Proficiently utilize Quickbooks as you have experience with finance work.
  • Provide backend support for fundraising events, including donation reconciliation, ticket sales, and communications
  • Conduct and analyze research and relationship mapping to identify new donors to financially support and join COAF as donor members.
  • Write small grant requests and proposals as necessary.
  • Persuasively convey the mission of COAF to diverse groups important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally charged information

WE ARE

Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 64 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak, and Tavush regions. Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing SMART Initiatives. COAF SMART is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies, and the environment. COAF SMART is an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF SMART Center was inaugurated on May 27, 2018, near the village of Debet, Lori Region.
