Overview

Position Summary:  Working closely with the Division Budget Director, the Budget Analyst will assist in providing accurate data analysis to ensure the Child Welfare and Family Service Divisions financial goals are met.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the completion and submission of ACS Budgets and narratives for all Child Welfare Programs. Monitor the ongoing claims of all Child Welfare Budgets and submit budget modifications as necessary.
  • Attend all budget team meetings; participate in annual budget development, and all ongoing reviews.
  • Assist with the tracking of salary lines for all CWFS budgets, create and monitor staff salary allocations.
  • Assess financial implications of budget development, application, and compliance with various funding sources. 
  • Review received revenue and expense actuals, compare to projections, and research discrepancies.
  • Assist with the training of program staff to enable the monitoring of all ACS/ Child Welfare program budgets to ensure that expenses and revenue are in line with program goals and ACS Budget lines.
  • Perform ongoing analysis to monitor miscoded revenue/expense and coordinate with accounting department to create necessary journal entries and salary allocation changes. 
  • Enter and submit budget modifications in the NYC budget system, coordinating with Grants and Contracts department.
  • Conduct trainings with program staff to enhance program familiarity with funding sources.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting, public administration, or related field.
  • One to three years of relevant full-time job experience working within a non-for profit. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Experience managing large-scale data sets required.
  • Strong project management, attention to detail, and ability to work quickly and professionally on short turnaround projects essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively within a diverse and socially committed organizational setting.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure in both a team setting and individually
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage a complex workload
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence with multiple types of analytic projects and assignment
  • Experience with Prophix budget, forecast and reporting system preferred
  • Familiarity with NY Governmental budget systems a plus
