Overview

Position Summary:  The Compliance Technical Writer helps to design and develop end-to-end process maps, standard operating procedures and policy documents in consultation with subject matter experts. Responsible for creating clear, understandable documentation that translates complicated processes into coherent, systematic explanation for a target audience. The Compliance Technical Writer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating Operations policies and procedures, process maps, workflows, and job aids that improve performance, drive adherence, improve quality and reduce risk.

 Responsibilities:

  • Research and understand state and federal legislative requirements that inform policies and procedures.
  • Communicate documentation updates to all stakeholders.
  • Consult with managers, compliance officer and subject matter experts from all divisions and business units to author accurate procedural documentation in compliance with applicable regulations. Problem solve with stakeholders as applicable to resolve any issues.
  • Collaborate with department subject matter experts, business units and various levels of management to revise, develop new and/or write, publish, and maintain policy and procedure documents and forms.
  • Conduct problem-solving analysis on business requirements, attain stakeholder support and work with subject matter experts to gather information, design and update documentation to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Conduct research by interviewing subject matter experts, review existing documentation, and glean information from process documented in the policy and procedure manual.
  • Prepare, edit, and deliver all knowledge in accordance with existing editorial styles best practices and document templates.
  • Review submitted content from the subject matter experts for completeness, level of detail, content organization, and overall understandability by all readers.
  • Interview employees for information as necessary through direct/targeted questioning to ensure capture of requirements to ensure documentation is auditable and functional.
  • Facilitate resolution of questions, comments and suggestions back to the department management.
  • Revise existing manuals and ensure maintenance of all current and previously published editions of policy and procedure documents on a secure network drive for version control, audit, and archival purposes.
  • Collaborate with the policy and procedure team to ensure timely updates are maintained.
  • Review submitted content from the subject matter experts for completeness, level of detail, content organization, and overall understandability by all readers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Officer for the success of Children’s Aid.

 

Qualifications: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field where a significant time was spent producing written products such as professional manuals, legislation, regulatory law, or policies is required.
  • Applicants must submit two writing samples demonstrating the ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate technical and/or legal information.
  • Experience interpreting legislation or regulatory law preferred.
  • Must be able to analyze complex content information gathered from different sources into a clear and logical written policy or procedure, streamline processes and flowcharts to deliver logical, conceptual documented procedures
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills to provide sound recommendations and decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word required.
