Position Summary:

The Learning & Development Manager (L&D Manager) will report to the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development to support efforts to strengthen skills and build knowledge of full and part time staff within the Youth Division with the goal of improving program quality. The person in this role will provide support to the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development and assist in developing a model for learning and development that aligns with and informs the agency’s broader approach and vision for this work. The L&D Manager will support the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development with strategic planning, implementation, meeting preparation and results focused reporting. The person in this role, will conduct routine site conducted visit to assess, plan and implement staff needed trainings.

Responsibilities: 

Organize:

·        Organize and administer program resources (i.e. Curriculum, evidence-based practices), and assign training for staff.

·        Create a document detailing the differentiated model for learning and development to inform the agency’s overall vision, approach and strategies for high quality, high impact youth and adolescent services.

·        Maintain tracking systems, including entering participants and program data into various computer databases and ensure that systems are up to date.

·        Conduct training needs surveys from Youth Division sites; to help the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development assess learning and capacity building needs.

·        Manage Learning Management Systems and communicate with vendors as needed.

Partner:

·        Help drive internal and external understanding of the Youth Division’s vision and development opportunities in alignment with the agency’s goals.

·        Partner with the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development to ensure training and capacity-building efforts are aligned with the agency’s key performance indicators.

·        Establish a connection to serve as a liaison between the Youth Division, DYCD, DOE and other city agencies in matters related to learning and development.

·        Build effective relationships at all levels within the Children’s Aid organization

·        Liaise with TMHR to ensure compliance around agency required trainings.

Communicate

·        Manage communication and information about trainings and development from the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development.

·        Design visually compelling marketing materials (fliers, presentations) to promote training opportunities

·        Design graphics for training decks to communicate key concepts

·        Motivate and inspire staff across the Youth Division to take action and ownership of the information and skills gained from trainings, observation and feedback, and mentoring.

·        Communicate with Youth Division Programs to forecast upcoming trainings and Leadership Development sessions

·         Track and follow up on Youth Division Program completion of trainings

Support:

·        Coordinate and organize site mandatory in person trainings.

·        In Collaboration with the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development, refine data collection strategies, data analysis.

·        Help to establish a yearly divisional progress report.

·        Support all audits and monitoring reviews of programs.

·        Take and synthesize meeting notes and facilitate action items and follow up items.

·        Support the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development to work closely with the National Center for Community Schools to ensure that national best practices are integrated into both local and national work.

·        Other relevant duties as assigned by the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development.

 

Qualifications: 

·         Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in education, youth development, or a related field.

·        2-3 years’ experience in community engagement, non-profit partnerships, marketing or communications.

·        2-3 years’ experience working in or out of school settings

·        At least 1 year of experience with a Learning Management platforms is a plus

·        Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, on-line data management systems

·        Well versed in creating data centered presentations

·        Graphic design skills a plus

·        Strong interpersonal skills, required

·        Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
