Associate Director, Richman Center for Business, Law, and Public Policy

Reporting to faculty directors from the Business and Law Schools, the associate director will be responsible for managing the operations of the Richman Center for Business, Law, and Public Policy (“Center”)—including strategic planning, fundraising and grant writing, budgeting and financial transactions, event planning and execution, publicizing and editing research, publication planning and coordination, and public relations.

Responsibilities:

1.    Serves as the lead administrator overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Center and working directly with the faculty directors to execute on a range of priorities. Plans and maintains the Center’s budget on an ongoing basis and processes reimbursements. Serves as the main point of contact for full-time faculty and visitors affiliated with the Center. Hires and supervises student workers and temporary staff. Manages public relations and communications, including fielding press inquiries, updating the Center’s website and marketing materials, and developing strategies for broader engagement with stakeholders. Prepares reports on the Center’s activities. Supports the teaching and research of the faculty directors and assists Center-related visitors with a range of administrative needs.

2.    Plans and executes a range of workshops and conferences in support of the Center’s mission, both on- and off-site. Works with the faculty directors to develop program goals and creates event agendas and plans. Oversees all aspects of events on an end-to-end basis, including identifying and supervising vendors, communicating and making arrangements on behalf of speakers, managing the expense reimbursement process, and collaborating with relevant administrative offices to ensure seamless execution.

3.    Publicizes the research of Center-affiliated scholars and edits academic manuscripts as needed by the directors.

4.    Works alongside the directors to codify and operationalize strategic goals and priorities for the Center. Identifies grant opportunities and prepares proposals seeking outside funding in support of the Center’s research and programming.

5.    Manages all facets of the Senior Fellows Program including appointments, onboarding, planning, and activities that engage the fellows in the mission of the Center.

6.    Organizes JD/MBA Annual Dinner and partners with other administrators to coordinate and implement other JD/MBA student community-building initiatives and programs such as, but not limited to, JD/MBA Student Orientation, social activities, seminars, mentorship programs, and alumni panels.

7.    Performs other duties as requested by the faculty directors or by the director of faculty support services.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four to six years of administrative experience required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing and editing skills required. Must have strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Web design and content coordination experience necessary. Project management experience, including employing appropriate digital tools, also preferred. Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, able to work well under pressure, and able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high-volume operation. Must be able to work independently and take initiative and responsibility for complex tasks. Ability to exercise good judgment and prioritize and carry out tasks with minimal supervision is a must. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups including faculty, students, and staff. Must have tact, diplomacy, and the ability to exercise judgment in matters that are sensitive and confidential. Experience with supervising employees is a plus. Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
