Overview
Position Summary
The Adult Education Program Manager at Community Impact provides oversight and management of a robust GED program as well as several extracurricular programs such as Computer Training and Job Road, serving 550 participants annually on campus and at satellite locations. The Manager recruits, trains and supervises approximately 30 Columbia work-study student staff and 60 volunteer teachers and tutors; works cross-functionally with the Social Services and College Road programs; develops new program components and curricula; tracks and delivers government grant outcomes, and performs administrative functions.

Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and train Columbia University work study student staff including Coordinators, Education Specialists, and Program Specialists; supervise and coach student staff in performance of tasks.
- Coordinate the recruitment, training, evaluation and coaching of approximately 30 volunteer teachers and tutors each semester, engaging them in professional development; ensure Career Kit materials are delivered in all classes; ensure all teaching staff takes with GED practice test in appropriate subject(s).
- Manage Fast Track Math program including focused participant recruitment, training and supervising teachers and continually refining unique curriculum as per grant requirements.
- Collaborate with Social Services and College Road programs to ensure participant retention and follow through to achievement of HSE diplomas.
- Present training modules to ensure teachers are familiar with GED test in assigned subjects.
- Monitor participant tracking including intake, attendance, academic outcomes and any social services needed; create data collection tools that facilitate grant outcomes and meet regularly with the Senior Associate Director.
- Develop new corporate and non-profit partnerships that enable our participants to identify and pursue career paths in various sectors; manage new and existing relationships to facilitate participant referrals.
- Initiate and nurture relationships with University departments to facilitate volunteer and Work-study recruitment and campus classroom space.
- Provide monthly written program summaries as well as quarterly programmatic reports regarding all grant required benchmarks; identify issues; offer potential solutions and implementation strategies.
- Identify potential foundation and government funders; help develop proposal concepts that meet specific funder goals; help write grant proposals that incorporate research-based activities.
- Continually evaluate, refine, and improve all programmatic systems and procedures; develop implementation plans on a quarterly basis.
- Help lead CI activities such as the Gala, technological and operational improvement projects, policy development, weekly staff meetings and other events and projects as assigned.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with three years minimum experience in adult education required; prior experience in program management, staff supervision and training and oversight of government grant deliverables required. Has experience working with low income, diverse populations and an understanding of their needs; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree; experience in workforce development, fundraising, and evaluation processes.
