Concern Housing is a non-profit agency committed to helping individuals and families to live in the community with dignity and enhanced opportunities through the provision of housing and support services. The Superintendent will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of the building.

Title: Superintendent (non-live-in)

Location: Amityville

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8am-4pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure routine daily, weekly and periodic cleaning tasks
  • Complete and process work orders and assist in maintaining the work order system
  • Ensure the entire building grounds and common areas are kept clean
  • Minor and routine repairs and maintenance, both in units and interior and exterior of building
  • Ensure that all building garbage and recyclables are placed for pick up at appropriate times and days
  • All entrances, paths, sidewalks and stairways must be kept completely clear of any debris, snow, ice, etc.
  • Prepare vacant units for occupancy
  • Maintain inspection logs for standpipe/sprinkler, maintenance logs and all federal, state and city regulations
  • Carry out and oversee preventive maintenance program throughout the buildings
  • Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds
  • Coordinate building systems maintenance with vendors, contractors and supervisors
  • Perform periodic inspections of all common areas throughout the buildings
  • Perform inspections of units annually and as needed
  • Monitor the use and inventories of maintenance supplies and initiate reordering when necessary
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Respond to emergency calls including after hours response and rectify existing condition
  • Performs additional maintenance tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Property Manager
  • Coordinates with the Director of the residential program
  • Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings.

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent plus 3 years’ experience and demonstrated ability. Full knowledge of all building systems, i.e., mechanical, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and plumbing. Possess carpentry, plumbing and light electrical experience. Have full knowledge of building facility maintenance and general construction. Must possess supervisory skills and have general knowledge of computers and software.
