Overview

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County (CCEUC) Development Director serves on the leadership team to develop and deliver strategic leadership in financial development to increase unrestricted revenue and advance CCE Ulster’s mission and programming. The Director directs activities that may include donor recruitment and cultivation, annual giving, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests, and gifts and capital campaigns. The Director will plan, initiate and facilitate successful donor cultivation, grant development, development marketing, and event fundraising to meet CCEUC’s overall goals and objectives. They will build and maintain relationships with government entities, corporations, foundations, and individuals which lead to grant proposals, sponsorships, and major gifts through face-to-face solicitation visits. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director to set and reach development goals and engage volunteer Board of Directors, program and administrative staff in development activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to raise minimally restricted funds, with major and sustaining donors.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years transferable experience in development).
  • Experience in major gifts, organizational fundraising and resource development.
  • Working knowledge of giving and charitable entities and vehicles.
  • Experience in public relations, marketing, communications, fiscal management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated high degree of accuracy, integrity, sound professional judgment, and tact to effectively relate to people, and handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of foundation directories and corporate charitable policies.
  • Knowledge of budget and fiscal management principles.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to fundraising and sponsored grants at local, state and federal levels.
  • Advanced relational skills and ability to project a kind and confident attitude; this includes the ability to listen, synthesize, and integrate information in service of organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to establish work priorities, set and reach goals, and handle multiple deadlines.

  • Valid New York Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of fundraising software.
  • Experience with Cornell Cooperative Extension system.
  • Experience with grant-writing and grant-funded programs.

This is a full time, exempt, benefits eligible position. Compensation paid at the rate of $105,000.00 per year. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility.
