Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) creates innovative educational resources that seek to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and perspective—the global literacy—required to understand the forces, ideas, and institutions that shape today’s world. These resources include World101, a growing library of multimedia primers that explain the fundamentals of international relations and U.S. foreign policy; Model Diplomacy, a multimedia simulation program that invites students to play the role of members of the National Security Council and UN Security Council; and Convene the Council, an educational video game developed in collaboration with iCivics to teach students as young as twelve how foreign policy is made. Each product comes with companion teaching resources and activities appropriate for a specific target audience, be it high school teachers, college professors, and/or their students.

Working under the supervision of the Director, Marketing, the Manager, Marketing Operations will work closely with the Director, Business Development to support partnerships.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with CFR Digital and Product Manager to maintain ongoing data capture and analysis and create popups on landing pages to capture emails for newsletter growth.
  • Managing the design, execution, and operations of CFR Education marketing campaigns.
  • Working with the Director, Marketing, Manager, Marketing Communications, and Manager, Multimedia Production to ensure the success of these campaigns.
  • Working with these colleagues and either/or an external PR consultant or CFR Communications to implement an effective PR strategy.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Marketing Communications, managing the email newsletter.
  • Automating marketing drip campaigns to convert leads to users.
  • Acting as database and dashboard manager (lists, analytics).
  • Building databases and tracking performance. Producing weekly and monthly measurement reports on marketing campaign performance.
  • Managing the event planning for conferences, webinars, advertising, and the Ambassador program.
  • Working with Director, Marketing and (eventually) PR consultant to implement online advertising in teacher newsletters and in Google Ad Grant, EdSurge, etc.
  • Testing marketing activities using EdWeb.
  • Supporting the Director, Business Development with partnership activities.
  • Assisting with the development of all summary presentations (visual and text).
  • Supporting other marketing activities, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing analytics, and/or social media advertising. Experience in educational publishing or edtech a plus.
  • Analytical thinker who loves to ask why and understands data trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with high academic credentials.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take strategic direction and implement independently.
  • Ability to interact with editors, experts, and senior management.
  • Experience with digital publishing and editorial workflows.
  • Flexible, positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team, balancing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
