Overview

Counseling In Schools is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill the part-time role of After School  Specialist while assisting DOE staff and teachers. In this role, you will be critical to the successful operation of Counseling In School After School Program. You will help provide a safe and positive environment for school age children during opportunities for recreation, learning, interaction and academic/personal growth. You will also participate in activities and trips while providing and maintaining a safe working environment, as well as helping with homework and preparing students to demonstrate newly acquired skills.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must have a strong interest in working with youth, provide guidance and inspiration.
  • Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in grades 6-8
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students
  • Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, behavior and community.
  • Model and uphold all Agency and School policies and procedures

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Energetic, passionate and responsible
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written. 
  • Enjoy areas such STEM, Sports, Cosmetology, Gaming, Coding, Cooking, Dance, sports, etc.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Schedule Logistics:

  • Part-Time
  • Monday – Friday / On-Site 
  • 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm 

 
Additional Info:

  • Salary: $25.00 – 30.00/hr
  • Candidate must clear a security background check from the Department of Education and Department of Health. 
  • Candidate is required to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 as per DOE requirements.
