Overview
CIS is looking to hire a Community School Director for ATECH High School and IS 288 in Brooklyn; and PS 47 in the Bronx. The Community School Director (CSD) will work with school leadership to identify needs and align services with the school vision by developing an effective partnership and program plan. The CSD will work to create access to resources within or outside the school, including services that address medical, social/ emotional, recreational, and academic needs for students and families.
The CSD will work with the school’s Leadership or Community School Team, which will include stakeholders in the school and community. Through ongoing needs assessments, communication and feedback, the CSD will capitalize on school strengths, develop clear goals for the school community, and assess program effectiveness.
The CSD will be responsible for all aspects of Other Than Personnel Service (OTPS) budget management including but not limited to program planning, purchasing, tracking balances, and expense protocol compliance.
Other CSD’s responsibilities will include:
- Managing on-site CIS team – including running team meetings, approving timesheets, approving invoices and expense reports; and acting as a liaison to CIS Clinical, Program Director and Admin teams.
- Creating, coordinating and attending meetings with stakeholders, including PTAs, student leaders, parent coordinators, parent leaders, school leadership teams, cabinet members, and other community-based organizations to foster communication and increase student access to support.
- Collect, analyze and use data to inform decision making and program implementation
- Developing a resource database, sent to families as a newsletter, which highlights community-based services.
- Organizing school-wide initiatives, including neighborhood family fairs.
- Organize a monthly mental health initiative as required by certain schools.
- Coordinating family outreach for school visiting providers (i.e. Vision Van)
- Sharing information through faculty presentations, parent summits, resource fairs and the creation of a resource manual.
- Researching and identifying community resources and assisting family access to the identified community resources.
- Familiarity with remote learning platforms including G Suite, Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Creative and innovative thinker.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments & tasks.
This is a 12 month assignment beginning immediately. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in school-based settings with students and managing staff required. Candidates should be familiar with the Community Schools Model.
Salary Range: $68K-75K, Generous PTO + Comprehensive Benefits Package.
