Position Summary:  

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications and collaborating closely with the Digital Content Manager, the Marketing and Communications Associate will play an important role in telling the DOROT story to key stakeholders – donors, older adults, and volunteers. Working closely with colleagues throughout the organization, the Associate will help achieve organizational objectives by implementing strategic marketing and communications initiatives that showcase DOROT’s work and the impact it has on the lives of older adults in New York City and beyond. The Marketing and Communications Associate will work closely with the Development team, managing the creation/production of content for ongoing online fundraising and other donor-focused initiatives.  

Responsibilities:                                                                        

  • With Development and MarCom teams, gather stories and manage production process for email fundraising campaign and other Development materials, ensuring timeliness and accuracy 
  • Manage social media channels, creating and posting relevant content 
  • Create print and online marketing materials using MailChimp, Canva and Drupal/WordPress 
  • Serve as managing editor of quarterly print/digital newsletter Connections, a donor outreach vehicle 
  • With Digital Content Manager, populate and maintain editorial calendar 
  • Grow and maintain photo archive 
  • Partner with staff in all departments to meet requests for new posts, marketing materials, etc. 
  • With Marketing and Program staff, devise and execute recruitment strategies and outreach/advertising plans 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Three or more years of professional marketing communications writing and editing experience
  • Experience managing accounts on multiple social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Strong editorial skills: ability to conceive and develop exciting new ideas for content 
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a small team 
  • Interest in using communications skills to benefit older adults and working for a mission-driven organization a plus
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, MailChimp and WordPress, a plus (or eager and quick learner)  
  • Excellent Office 365 skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
