About DOROT Westchester: DOROT Westchester began in 2005 and now serves hundreds of older adults each year through life-enhancing programs. Our social workers continue to be a cornerstone of our work in the County, skillfully matching older adults with volunteers in our signature Friendly Visiting, Telephone Friends, and Intergenerational Chess Programs, and much more; these all share the common goal of creating mutually beneficial connections. DOROT Westchester is innovating and growing, seeking to engage a greater number of older adults and volunteers, and expanding the scope of our community partnerships.

About the Position: DOROT Westchester seeks a dynamic and hard-working individual to develop, oversee and manage programs for constituents in Westchester County. The Program Coordinator will be charged with growing current and piloting new programs that enable older adults to meaningfully connect with peers and volunteers of all ages, including teens in our intergenerational programs. The ideal candidate is a highly proactive and critical thinker who has a track record in creative problem solving and an affinity for older adults. They must possess program management experience, good judgement and strong customer service and client engagement skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead and coordinate the development and implementation of an array of programs and initiatives (in-home, in community, remote and onsite) that connect older adults and volunteers including: Response Team, Intergenerational Chess, Package Deliveries, Onsite Programs and other occasional visiting opportunities.
  • Partner with other departments to meet agency-wide objectives and foster collaboration.
  • Coordinate with Marketing team to create materials and strategies for programs.
  • Work with the Evaluation department to survey and assess programs and their impact on participants.
  • Collaborate with DOROT’s Volunteer Services department on the recruitment, training, support and assignment of volunteers.
  • Manage all aspects of DOROT Westchester programs from participant recruitment and engagement to communications and logistical set-up.
  • Oversee and execute internal processes that ensure timely and targeted collection of metrics and narratives aligned with program goals and grant deliverables.
  • Input client and program participation data using DOROT’s Constituent Information Management System (Salesforce platform), and the Westchester County Peer Place system.
  • Be a vital, proactive and collaborative member of the DOROT Westchester team.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Attributes & Experiences

  • Demonstrated success with program development and project management; experience with volunteer management a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work independently and integrate new learnings
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills
  • Self-starter able to effectively manage multiple, time-sensitive projects and balance competing priorities
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation and verbal and written communication skills 
  • Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal competencies
  • Comfort working with a wide variety of individuals; previous work with older adults a plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in program coordination, social services, nonprofit management or other related field  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • A flexible schedule, with availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate programs including four Sundays per year for Package Deliveries 
  • Drivers License and access to a car
