Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, The Director of Operations will provide operational support to all programs and departments across The Manny Cantor Center.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Associate Director of Rentals and Operations, Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, & Customer Service Manager
  • Mitigate risk and ensure compliance with agency, city, state, and federal laws, policies and regulations.
  • Work in collaboration with program staff to build sustainable partnerships with vendors and organizations
  • Manage operations related to contracts/partnerships (cleaning, security)
  • Manage operations related software and databases (Brevio, internal communications, internal website)
  • Maintain OSHA regulations and compliance within the facility
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and laws, including but not limited to permit application, recertification, audits, and site inspections
  • Collaborate with Building Engineer to ensure all relevant parties are apprised of safety plan and in compliance with safety regulations
  • Manages and updates emergency communication systems, and supports in operation of emergency drills and preparedness in partnership with our Fire Safety Director (FSD)
  • Collaborate with Building engineer to analyze building construction and equipment to identify repair /upgrade needs
  • Supervise Kitchen and collaborate with the kitchen staff and program leaders to maintain a high standard of quality and member satisfaction
  • Oversee kitchen budget, collaborating with the Kitchen Manager and other relevant parties
  • Oversee Rentals Department
  • Oversee cleaning service and maintenance, and support regularly scheduled maintenance and specialty cleaning in classrooms, kitchen, 6th floor event space, etc.
  • Periodically review and revise procedures and controls to maximize efficiency and fiscal responsibility
  • Participate in procurement, purchasing, and negotiation of vendor contracts
  • Support and collaborate with the security team
  • Collaborate with Building Engineer to put in place plans and initiatives to conserve energy and reduce waste
  • Participate in development and execution of capital improvements projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree(s) in relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years’ related experience (i.e.-operations, facilities, building management).
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and teams.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and effectively manage resources.
  • Experience reviewing, building, and managing budgets.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors, organizations, and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety).
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and compliance a plus.
  • Experience working in a JCC or community center a plus.
  • Initiative-taking, highly efficient, attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills.
