Overview

Envision Freedom Fund works alongside impacted communities to dismantle the oppressive and interconnected criminal legal and immigration systems. With freedom as our guiding principle, we invest in innovative campaigns and programs that aim to win long-term, transformative change, while meeting the urgent needs of community members in the present. Our work has always coupled a necessary intervention – freeing people from detention today – with advocacy and public education to achieve radical systems change and freedom for all people.

Envision Freedom Fund is seeking a Special Assistant to provide administrative support for our bond and post-release programs, development and operations departments, and our Executive Director. This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent after four months (Oct-Feb) based on mutual interest and capacity.

Responsibilities:

Development Assistance

  • Process donations and major gifts
  • Generate and send gift acknowledgement letters and tax receipts
  • Correspond with donors regarding gift transactions
  • Enter data in Salesforce 
  • Assist with bulk mailings

Immigration and Post Release Services Support

  • Assemble and mail welcome home Packets, emergency funds, and other in-house resources to community member clients.
  • Enter data in Salesforce
  • Make legal, medical, and court fee payments on behalf of community members
  • Assist with coordinating transportation, lodging and other arrangements for court appearances.
  • Process and mail member ID cards
  • Assist community members with obtaining other resources offered by Envision Freedom Fund as needed.

 Operations

  • Staff the front desk at Envision Freedom’s office
  • Check office mail 
  • Maintain supplies and equipment
  • Order office supplies
  • Assist with general office upkeep.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

 Executive Director Support

  • Provide scheduling support for Executive Director
  • Assist with preparation for meetings including meeting confirmations, space reservations, and making sure that the Executive Director has relevant information and materials.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact in a multicultural and diverse population.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Adaptable and capable of making decisions in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • A demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice and strong intersectional analysis.
  • A strong team player with a desire to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Strong facility with technology including Google Office, database/data management tools (e.g. Salesforce or similar platforms)

Preferred:

  • Professional experience in immigration or criminal justice direct service or social services.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis
