Role Summary:

Once a young person completes our core program, they become ‘graduates’ and are part of the Alumni Network. We strive to keep graduates engaged, for at least two years. The Alumni Liaison is responsible for helping to support and execute the vision of exalt’s highly important Alumni Network. The individual in this role will be responsible for coordinating alumni panels and supporting other alumni outreach efforts including regular meetings to guide them in their educational and career goals, facilitating workshops and supporting them in their second paid internship placements. All our efforts and alumni data is recorded in Salesforce and other tracking systems. This is a hybrid position, and may require travel within NYC (I.e., court appearances, internship sites, and special events, as needed).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support alumni through IPPs, (Individualized Progress Plans) working towards educational, employment and criminal justice avoidance goals.
  • Refer alumni to career advancement services, including college access and prep courses, certifications, vocational schools, scholarships, and tutoring services, among others.
  • Assist alumni with school re-enrollment, transfer and to set and make progress on educational goals. 
  • Support alumni to obtain employment; resume and cover letter completion, job searching, interview preparation, connect with employment agencies, SYEP, etc.
  • Create and facilitate career development workshops.
  • Plan and coordinate alumni orientation panels for current program cycles.    
  • Support alumni placed on paid internships. Track attendance, submit timesheets to the finance department for payment, interface with internship sites’ mentors and supervisors, troubleshoot as needed.
  • Connect participants to external resources, beyond exalt’sscope, to provide holistic support based on their interests and IPPs.
  • Work closely with partners, managers, directors, teachers and other staff to collaboratively and continuously advance young people so they can attain and exceed their goals.
  • Data keeping and recording via Salesforce and excel.
  • Other tasks as assigned or needed to support the Alumni Network.

Communication: Clearly, effectively and efficiently conveys and receives information and ideas. Demonstrates excellent written, oral and listening skills.

Cultural competence: Has strong familiarity with and understanding of or is committed to learning about exaltstudents’ histories, cultures and the socio-economic and political factors which have shaped those. 

Adaptability: Able to adapt quickly to new information and unexpected deadlines and obstacles. Approaches change positively.

Technological experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Salesforce, Mac’s, PC’s, Chromebooks. Photoshop, Adobe or media applications preferred. 

 Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • We seek talented, dedicated individuals from all walks of life who possess a strong commitment to exalt’s Relevant personal experience is a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of experience in youth development.  
  • Minimum of 3 years working with court-involved youth or similarly “at-risk” population of high-school aged youth.
  • Experience facilitating workshops for youth and young adults.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills required.
  • Ability to travel to internship placement sites within NYC
  • COVID-19 vaccination required     

Compensation:

exalt is prepared to offer a competitive base salary of $58,500 to $60,000 per year plus a variety of benefits.
