FPWA is an anti-poverty, policy, and advocacy nonprofit with a membership network of 170 human-services and faith-based organizations. FPWA has been a prominent force in New York City’s social services system for more than 100 years, advocating for fair public policies, and working to meet the needs of New Yorkers. FPWA reaches nearly 1.5 million New Yorkers each year.

FPWA’s work aims to address the historical, structural, and institutional inequities that continue to foster cycles of poverty and prevent low-income individuals and communities of color from moving up the economic ladder.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Membership and Data Systems Manager will be responsible for working with the Director of Membership & Strategic Partnerships to enhance FPWA’s membership recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts. This work may include developing and leading membership drives, planning member events and creating and implementing outreach strategies to help expand FPWA’s membership base as well as deepen its engagement. Critical to the success of this role is serving as primary team lead for FPWA’s membership database that maintains and tracks member demographics and engagement.

This role will support the Director of Membership & Strategic Partnerships in the following areas:

Membership Management

  • Build relationships with members and learn about their priorities vis-a-vis FPWA program, policy and advocacy efforts and use that knowledge to inform strategic planning for departmental programming.
  • Plan and execute a calendar of in-person and virtual events (meetings, dinners, webinars, panels, etc.) that convene membership around FPWA priorities.
  • Recruitment of prospective members.
  • Provide regular updates on the member community, and advise on how to best help strengthen that community and improve the value proposition for members
  • Support new member onboarding by helping organizations navigate our resources and events. Act as an ongoing point of contact for members on participation and administrative matters.
  • Plan for events and conferences, developing presentation/panel content, and create material that showcases the work of FPWA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Data & Analytics

  • Leverage tools and systems at FPWA’s disposal to enhance membership engagement and data management in service of recruitment, retention and meeting member and organizational needs
  • Manage FPWA’s membership database inclusive of quality control, instrumentation, and processes to collect data from member agencies and track their engagement via our CRM platforms
  • Conduct analysis and generate data reports and visualizations in a timely manner for meetings, presentations, funder reporting and planning inclusive of membership metrics, demographics, and other sources of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Assist FPWA staff as needed with data collection practices
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, information systems or related field (Demonstration of equivalent experience considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree)
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must demonstrate a strong desire to serve others and strengthen low-income communities across NYC
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
  • Passion for community building
  • Strong relationship building and management skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, EveryAction or similar CRM necessary
  • Familiarity with Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms
  • Familiarity with SurveyEverywhere, SurveyMonkey or other similar platforms as well as design and analysis of survey data
  • Strong ability to clean and prepare datasets for analysis and conduct descriptive analyses using Excel, Tableau, Python, Stata, or other statistical analysis software a plus
  • Excellent written, copywriting, and verbal communications skills, including ability to communicate findings to audiences without data analytics backgrounds
  • Strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, and strong attention to detail
  • Deep commitment to racial and social justice with an understanding of the needs of the communities that FPWA serves
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative when appropriate

WORK ENVIRONMENT

As part of building a culture where employs can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model. Employees are in-office twice per week and senior leadership is in-office three times per week. We observe a company-wide remote day on Fridays.

Work performed by this role is expected to happen in or near New York, NY given FPWA’s work policies and practices.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
