Futures and Options empowers New York City’s youth, particularly youth of color and students from historically underrepresented communities, to acquire transferable professional skills, pursue higher education, and successfully compete in the global 21st century economy. Our career development program continuum harnesses the talents of our volunteers, engaging them to offer events and workshops on career- and college-related topics most meaningful to the young people we serve. The Volunteer Assistant AmeriCorps Member will support the engagement and retention of our volunteers, which includes representatives from our network of employer partners and older alumni of our programs. This person will develop opportunities for mentorship, skill-building, and career exploration in order to increase our students’ confidence and self-efficacy, and introduce them to diverse pathways into in the world of work.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Experience working and/or volunteering in education, volunteer, mentorship, or alumni programming, youth services, human services, urban planning, policy, or related field. Former peer leaders and mentor/mentees encouraged to apply.
  • Experience developing relationships with people of different backgrounds and abilities.
  • Experience developing creative program activities and recruiting/engaging participants preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint skills. Prior experience with Salesforce a plus.
