Overview

WHO WE ARE

Global Health Corps (GHC) was founded on the belief that leadership is the greatest lever for change in global health. Our fellowship program places young professionals in high-impact roles on the front lines of global health. United by the belief that health is a human right, we train our leaders to become more effective while also strengthening their ability to work together across borders and boundaries of all kinds to drive systemic change. Since 2009, we’ve been building a diverse community of health equity leaders – 1000+ strong and counting – from 48 nationalities and currently working across Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, and the United States.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

At a time of organizational growth and experimentation, GHC is developing a new vision for its US-based programming. The United States Program Manager (USPM) will play a critical role in contributing to the design and implementation of a re-imagined leadership development program for emerging health leaders in the United States. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer (CPO), this hire will bring energy for building something new, agility in moving between strategy and implementation, and the ability to cultivate connections and support the professional development of BIPOC and other historically underrepresented talent in health leadership roles.

Specifically, the US Program Manager will:

  • In close collaboration with the CPO, play a leadership role in designing, developing, and implementing a pilot program for a 9-12 month fellowship for emerging and underrepresented talent working within the domestic public health system.
  • Lead the development and continual refinement of systems and processes needed to recruit, select, and support fellows, with an eye on laying the foundation for scaling the program over time.
  • Oversee fellow recruitment and selection process through developing strategies for outreach, creating promotional materials, managing the application database (Wizehive) and application vetting process, as well as ensuring data integrity and smooth user experience. Design recruitment strategies to engage historically underrepresented groups in health leadership roles.
  • Build relationships with fellows, conduct regular check-ins to understand their professional needs, solicit their feedback, and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Fellowships, develop and facilitate in-person and virtual events to foster community building and leadership development amongst the entire fellow class.
  • Support networking and engagement of US public health organizations as recruitment and training partners.
  • Support the work of the Director of Alumni to build-out alumni programming, networking opportunities, and ongoing professional development.
  • Support the work of the Impact and Learning Manager to implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework.
  • Collaborate with GHC’s global team to share best practices and resources, as well as regularly communicate updates about the US program.
  • Manage the US program budget.
