Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Aging Services Coordinator, the Community Center Concierge is responsible for welcoming individuals who are seeking access to the Isaacs Older Adult Center (including personnel, participants, interns, and volunteers) and ensuring that all health and safety protocols and procedures are followed while the building is in operation.
Schedule: Monday through Friday,
Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
The primary responsibilities of this position will include the following:
- Driving organizational efforts to create a healthy community and helping to reduce safety risks
- Demonstrating an in-depth understanding of all safety rules and regulations, and working thoughtfully and consistently to improve our practices
- Maintaining the coordination, implementation, and administration of all safety protocols and procedures
- Responding to questions and concerns with a sense of urgency and kindness, in person, on the telephone, and on-line
- Working in collaboration with key personnel to educate the community on all applicable health standards ad resources.
- Maintaining a consistent presence at the front desk and at programs and activities to promote positive experiences
- Serving as primary point of access for participants to access services and resources both internally (such as case management and food access) and externally.
In order to achieve the above, the Specialist will be responsible for all entry points, enforce all identified guidelines, and support the preparedness of the organization and community in response to all health and safety needs and concerns.
This position will be intently focused on the following, but not limited to:
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Greeting and welcoming individuals seeking access to the Isaacs Center Older Adult Center including personnel, participants, interns, and volunteers
- Organizing and coordinating all intake procedures including but not limited to daily participant (temperature) checks
- Ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are being met throughout the day
- Informing of any issues or inquiries, etc.
- Serving as primary point of access for participants to access services and resources both internally (such as case management and food access) and externally.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Answering phone calls, questions, etc. in a prompt and polite manner
- Providing and updating information about community programs and resources
- Assisting individuals with completion of paperwork when necessary
- Collecting and entering program data as needed.
Facility/Community Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with all organizational and regulatory expectations
- Maintaining a clean, courteous, well-stocked and professional working environment
- Assisting personnel with participant and program engagement as needed
- Assisting in training and acclimating any new support personnel
Qualifications & Experience:
- A High School Degree or GED is Required.
- Experience working in any high-volume/high-intensity industry
- Happy, welcoming, and can-do attitude with participants and coworkers
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and a team player
- Computer Proficiency and superior keyboarding skills
- Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment
- Passion for helping others in a healthcare environment
- Ability to effectively interact with a broad spectrum of community members – older adults, children, parents and caregivers, etc.
- Bilingual, English/Chinese or English/Spanish highly preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work some flexible hours (e.g., evenings, weekends, Thanksgiving or Christmas Holiday)
