Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.
Program Description: Goddard Riverside Community Center is working in collaboration with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development to alleviate the effects of poverty and provide opportunities by operating a Beacon Community Center on the Upper Westside. Beacon Community Centers are located in public schools throughout New York City and serve youth from Kindergarten through age 21 and adults ages 22 and older adults including seniors. Beacons operate year-round in non-school hours on weekdays, weekends and in the summer as a resource to the entire community by offering integrated programming tailored to local needs and interest.
Position Summary: The GRCC Beacon Program is seeking a dynamic individual who will work and maintain office services by organizing office operations and procedures including; collecting supporting data entry into DYCD web-based attendance and reporting system; support payroll; controlling correspondence; maintaining filing systems; reviewing supply requisitions; and assigning and monitoring clerical functions. The Program Aide supports the effective and efficient running of the program under the supervision and direction from the Deputy Director and Program Director.
Salary Range: $18.00-$19.00/hr
Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
- Assist with Data Entry
- Typing, Copying
- Assist with data collection for purposes of evaluation and reporting
- Assist in ordering and track supplies for the program and produce inventory reports as requested
- Keep track of enrollment
- Enforce program rules
- Know and enforce ALL emergency procedures and follow all safety guidelines associated with all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your participant safety and whereabouts at all times. As well as adhere to all COVID-19 policies and procedures
- Ability to work remotely as well as in person
- Attend staff training, weekly, meetings and supervision meetings
- Attend program trips as needed
- Other tasks as required and assigned by Assistant Director, Program Director, ADED and/or DED
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent; some college preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a multi-cultural youth population preferred
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to work as a team member
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus
- Comfort with and willingness to learn web-based reporting systems
- Literacy and numeracy adequate for maintaining records and files
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good judgement
