Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Site Supervisor (Supervisor) is responsible for oversight of the Jack August Learning program in support of children who attend Yorkville Community School, PS 198, and MS224 and reside in the Isaacs and Holmes developments.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
The primary responsibilities related to oversight will include all of the following:
- Ensuring health and safety of children and personnel in alignment with all established protocols and procedures
- Supporting social-emotional learning through daily activities
- Assisting children, parents, and caregivers in their efforts to access and utilize technology to support their learning
- Providing families and caregivers with access and/or referrals to the resources they need to support their economic security, housing stability, and health and wellness
- Facilitating children’s access to recreational activities
- Offering academic enrichment experiences that support grade-level learning.
- Offering targeted and individual assistance to children with unique learning needs (children performing below
- grade level, children transition to a new school, children entering school for the first time, etc.
- Deliver programming that supports parent’s ability to be their child’s first educator.
In order to achieve the above, the Supervisor will oversee day-to-day operations and interface with children, families, and caregivers in a manner that respectful, thoughtful, responsible, and engaging. In addition, the Supervisor will ensure that all compliance measures as presented by the funder will be completed in an accurate, thorough, and timely fashion.
The Supervisor will have responsibility for oversight of a school-age personnel including Group Leaders and Activity Specialists, and work in collaboration with the Beacon Directors and Remote Learning Director to present programming that is coordinated and comprehensive. The Supervisor will work with a Consultant (Allison Wittenberg) and external partners (Asphalt Green) to provide a comprehensive program.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 5 years of successful experience – within the past 8 – providing services to children and Parents. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Organized and able to thrive within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Prior supervisory experience in a similar setting is desired. Posses a school-age license or enrolled in a study program to obtain licensure.
Program Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support programming in alignment with organizational goals and priorities, children, parent, and caregiver needs, and DYCD Learning Lab expectations.
- Supervise a team of school-age personnel including Group Leaders and Activity Specialists.
- Organize program logistics, such as schedules, space reservations, resources needed, etc.
Compliance/Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Collect and organize data in a timely manner.
- Ensure that Department of Health and Office of Children and Family regulations are adhered to and prepare for program audits by funders and other evaluators.
- Meet all contractual obligation such as meeting enrollment, rate of participation, and timely reporting.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend administrative and staff meetings, appropriate training and workshops.
- Order supplies and snack foods for program/office while adhering to allocated budget.
- Coordinate participant registration and daily program attendance while ensuring documents are in accordance with preset guidelines.
Community Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information to parents and caregiver, and interested community members.
- Work closely with the school age directors to ensure effective communications internally and externally, particularly regarding program activities and community engagement events/opportunities;
- Engage key stakeholders and participate in networks and coalitions for the purpose of elevating the needs and interests of the program.
