Greenwich House will launch the Workforce Training & Resource Center in Fall 2022, which is envisioned as a programming, support, and activity hub for partnerships that will bring a broader array of services to the West Side. The Center will focus on curating skills trainings and services for adults and older adults and build opportunities for meaningful intergenerational engagements.

Position Summary:

The provision of comprehensive employment rehabilitation counseling services, assessment of work readiness, and supports the individual’s recovery and the successful transition to and retention of employment. Support advancements in career development for those individuals that enter treatment already employed, or have a work history.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, and group counseling, case management, referral, and service coordination; interventions to remove environmental, employment, and attitudinal barriers.
  • Maintain knowledge of evidence-based practices in counseling, including Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused interventions.
  • Engage new admissions, perform assessments and make referrals based on documented needs.
  • Provide ongoing career assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and vocational counseling services to the population.
  • Provide comprehensive vocational preparation activities, employment, and post-employment support services to promote retention.
  • Serve as an interdisciplinary team member for the integration of workforce rehabilitation services within the treatment process.
  • Provide job analysis, job development, and placement services utilizing the Workforce Training and Resource Center and existing community partners.
  • Assist with employment and job accommodations, including job search and resume revision.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support patients in the utilization of the MMTP resource room inclusive of the computer lab.
  • Facilitate the MMTP orientation group 1x weekly alongside medical, intake, and peer staff.
  • Oversee the collection of employment, education, training, and volunteer verification following OASAS and clinic recommendations.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist the clinic with de-escalation/conflict resolution when codes occur during work operations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Satisfactorily perform other duties upon request by the Behavioral Health Workforce Manager and support the department.
  • Establish priorities and a course of action for handling multiple tasks to resolve problems within the scope of one’s responsibilities.
  • Must maintain the counseling standard of ethics, conduct, and organization policies in job-related activities.
  • Attend all agency-mandated training and other learning opportunities as recommended by the supervisor to promote professional growth.
  • Communicate with supervisor and Program Directors to address problems that may arise and progress with tasks.
  • Meet with direct supervisor for weekly hour supervision and bi-weekly group supervision.
  • Participate with Patient Advisory Committee and Peer Specialists.
  • Complete and submit the Monthly Service Delivery Reports for OASAS which details services provided and progress for each person enrolled at MMTP.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, or related field of rehabilitation psychology; or Master’s degree in any counseling or psychology specialization, with one year of experience in the career/employment counseling for patients with substance use disorder and/or other undervalued populations.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with career/employment/education barriers in a behavioral health treatment setting. Understanding of mental health, disabilities, homelessness, LGBTQIA, criminal justice, and/or HIV/AIDS conditions/experiences.
  • Familiarity with OASAS vocational regulations and requirements is a plus.
  • Abilities in assessments, and individual and group counseling to engage and maintain a consistent caseload within the program and community.
  • An innovative and motivated individual who will bring creative approaches to the workforce programs and the undervalued populations we work with.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Perform outreach and travel independently to coordinate job placement opportunities within Greenwich House sites and external community partners.
  • Support employed individuals in the field as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills — able to interface with all levels of staff within the organization, patients, and referring partners.
  • Knowledge of social support services, including identifications and social security benefits is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word for reports and data entry.
  • Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Preferred, not required).

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

In order to protect our staff and to provide safe and reliable services to our clients, students, members, program participants, and the communities that we serve, as of October 29, 2021, we are requiring all Greenwich House and Barrow Street Nursery School new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date. We will consider exceptions for religious and medical reasons, where appropriate. “Fully vaccinated” means you must have both doses of a 2-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the second dose, or have received 1 dose of a 1-dose vaccine and two weeks have elapsed since the dose. Proof of vaccination status must be submitted prior to your start date and includes CDC Vaccine Card, NYS Excelsior Pass, NYC Vaccination Record, and other official Vaccine Record.
