As a national thought leader in deeper learning, Harlem Village Academies is distinguished as the only charter school network in New York offering Montessori PreK and culminating in the International Baccalaureate. HVA is a community of PK-12 schools, a college support program, and a graduate school, the Deeper Learning Institute, where teachers earn a master’s and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support instructional and non-instructional teams
  • Intensively support and demonstrate love and care for students while supervising during transitions, recess, lunch, and public park visits
  • Aid instructional efforts of the teacher, including leading small group instruction and covering classes as needed
  • Execute special projects assigned by instructional and non-instructional leaders
  • Oversee non-instructional domains such as inventory and purchasing, facilities upkeep, and family communication, as assigned by the school Director of Operations
  • Support the school community with other duties upon request, such as inventory and purchasing, facilities upkeep, or other administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, preferably pursuing a bachelor’s degree
  • Strong sense of personal accountability for student and school success
  • Prior experience working with children
  • Physical and emotional endurance to deal with challenging students
  • Comfort working in a main office setting, including completing computer-based tasks
  • Exceptional ability to build relationships and communication with students, colleagues, and families
  • Excellent behavior management, great attention to detail, and incredible flexibility to meet any challenge with a positive, solutions-oriented outlook
  • Willingness to go above and beyond to meet student needs
  • Microsoft Office Suite fluency preferred

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $36,000 – $50,000, and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final salary may be adjusted based on experience and qualifications. HVA is committed to providing our team with a range of benefit offerings at a competitive value.
