Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS)
Pediatrics – Lerner Children’s Pavilion
Position Summary
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of child life services to our pediatric patients and families. This involves but is not limited to providing emotional and psychosocial support for hospitalized and ambulatory children in group settings and at the bedside at the Lerner Children’s Pavilion; creating and implementing individualized treatment plans for developmentally appropriate preparation and support; and planning and implementing therapeutic play activities. This CCLS will work in conjunction with Child Life Supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS)
- Please note that (anticipated certification must be completed within 6 months)
- 1+ years of hospital experience in Child Life or a field related to children adolescents and families preferred. New graduates welcomed by to apply.
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures of Child Life Skills, including knowledge of appropriate play and art materials, techniques including non-pharmacological techniques of pain management and stress reduction
- Strong ability to communicate with families and patients in a clear, concise manner
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
